Small Batch Production for battery pack

 

  • Updated BMS working properly.
  • Tested on a e-mobility too on a slot.
  • 1 person weight: Past
  • 2 people weight: 3/4 way (same with the lead-acid battery)
  • Batter pack (Energy Block) Auto shut down within 15 sec if there is no load
  • updates of BMS for new 4G Board
  • updates of Heat sink for battery pack. to bring the temperature from the top to throughout of the battery pack
  • Bottom of battery pack information edited and improved
  • Battery Pack BMS finished producing and doing QA test
  • Battery Pack’s outer Shell has a proper supplier that can do a pass unit and at a very low cost. No bend, no Concave, no thinning at the end of the extrusion
  • This is the 5th Supplier that is also solving the issue of the PMD’s heat dissipation challenge

  • The PCB casing as heat sink and the PCB will cost 158 RMB (Mold fee at 716 000 RMB) and 230 RMB respectively. the total cost will be still around 550 rmb. It will be a no-go and some design will be reverted back.
  • one more round of revert is being carried out and will take 1 more week.
  • The bearing cost is 19.8 RMB with 79 000 RMB molding fee is acceptable (have not been negotiated)
  • the backbone/ Stem cost is 27.8 RMB with a 49700 RMB molding fee is acceptable (have not been negotiated)

  • Planning to prepare 2 more Jig prototypes (total 4 units) to finalize the small parts improvement and presentation showcase in which the jigs will be on 4 different mobilities
  • Initial each cost is 3380 for each jig prototype (there was a cast mold in it)
  • now is 1630 rmb for each jig prototype (using the paid cast mold so cost is lower)

  • 400w heat challenge solved and maintained at 60 degree C
  • Main Change: The die-casting bottom shell is changed to aluminum extrusion and stamping, which directly becomes the radiator and shell, this reduce mold cost.
  • Add a pressure relief waterproof valve inside the cavity of the heat sink.

  • Battery Pack improvement before batch production
    • Bottom side of the battery cells holder to improve groove 0.15mm deeper and 0.3mm wider
    • Cells Aluminium connector will be pressed out
    • Spot welding spot has a deeper gauge so the spot welding will be flashed and not pressed when assembled
    • FPC cable’s shorten and harden
    • Top Aluminium cover that holds the signal lines will be glue first then hot melt. these 2 steps will prevent water seeping in
    • Battery pack’s side screw point thickness to 1.4 mm from 1.5mm for easier assembly of battery cell jigs
    • Welding aluminum plate adopts pressed hot melt
    • Battery cell jig screen points to be 0.2 mm

  • 400w heat challenge solved
  • size no need to change for the heat dissipation
  • cost can be reduced by working directly with the customise heat sink company as they have a lot of aluminium core
  • we will use their aluminium to do custom design and threat the entire housing as a heat sink and it will come in together with a valve to let heat run through
  • in the end there will only be 2 supplier. (a.) One is the heat sink company. (b.) the other is the ball bearing company for the joint.
  • modification will be done for one more round & send to Singapore team to check
  • Targeted time: 3rd week of June to send for prototyping

  • China team has updated the new timeline
  • Assembly of battery pack 9th July 2020. All the development team will arrive and tune within 1 week for 36 units to meet the expectation of 3C Certification requirement
  • Molding is at last stage. These 2 weeks R&D Team will go down to check the details

  • Locking and strengthening
  • Simplification on the current jig
    removal of the additional piece to clamp
    a1. clamping on a ‘surface’ will be done by 2 methods: screen holes or tightening around a rounded surface
    b. add an reinforce to prevent pulling damages
    c. use a market-readied bearing to reduce costing and moulding cost
  • this model will be sent for prototyping after one more round of check
  • Top-clamping approach is still in the process

  • Option A: Original idea. The jig to hold only a mobility’s stem was hard and troublesome. it has 2 parts, 2 screws then fix the jig.
  • Option B: integrated into the main jig and the moving join for assembling into a mobility’s stem

MVP – PCB’s Specs of Battery pack/ energy block – 4th part

 

  • What is Energy Block’s 4G sending:
    • Currently contains two basic data packets and other variable-length control packets, of which the basic data packets are mainly sent:
    • Basic data packet: positioning, battery data is business data packet, sending frequency is 5 ~ 10 seconds
    • Variable length control package: mainly for operation control such as upgrade package, battery module setting, etc.
    • Heartbeat packets for communication, 18 Bytes / packet, once every 30 seconds;
    • Data packet: 64Bytes / packet The data is triggered when the data is changed; GPS position, battery current, voltage, soc, temperature and battery voltage, compass direction, acceleration
    • every minute send 6 packets
    • Each pack is 80 bytes.
  • Each hour is: 80Bx 6 times x 60 minutes = 28,800Bytes,
  • Assuming 8 hours of work each day, assume each hour traffic is is 28,800×10 (business data) + 30B x 2times/minute x 60 minutes x 24 hours (heartbeat packet) = 374,400Bytes,
  • 1 month estimate is: 374,400×30 days = 10.71MByte
